Posted in Local Attraction @ Jul 3rd 2012 10:35am - By Administrator

The Gold Coast hinterland lies just a short drive inland from the bustling coastal strip, encompassing over 100, 000 hectares of rolling hills, lush rainforest reserves and sprawling vineyards.

Here are just three spectacular hinterland National Parks to explore close to this 5 star Gold Coast resort.

Springbrook National Park

Springbrook National Park takes in 2727 hectares of Gold Coast river headwaters, temperate rainforest and eucalypt forest. There is a large selection of walking tracks to explore, ranging from 300 metres to 54 kilometres in length and you’ll find plenty of places to stop for a picnic surrounded by tranquil rainforest. For a truly unforgettable holiday experience, book a guided evening tour to see the colony of glowworms at the spectacular Natural Bridge.

Lamington National Park

Wander through fern covered valleys, peer into ancient volcanic ash caves and take in breathtaking sweeping views at this beautiful reserve in the scenic rim. You’ll find several hiking tracks to explore along the McPherson Range and lots of places to rest awhile and enjoy a picnic or barbecue. Keep your eyes open for Australian King parrots, brush tailed possums, crimson rosellas and carpet pythons as you explore.

Burleigh Head National Park

Located between Coolangatta and Surfers Paradise, Burleigh Head National Park takes in long pristine beaches, ancient pandanus groves and dense coastal rainforest. It’s teeming with birdlife, including lorikeets, brush turkeys and sea eagles, and is one of the best places in the region to view migrating humpback whales between June and November each year. Don’t forget your binoculars!
